Hello! My name is Shannon Mondeaux and I am delighted to be teaching at Monroe Elementary this year!
I have wanted to become a teacher since I was a very young girl. My family moved from California to Utah when I was going into first grade. My timid personality and homesickness caused me to dread going to public school. In fact, my first few weeks of first grade comprised of me crying in the reading corner by myself! However, my first grade teacher was caring and tender-hearted, and she gave me individualized attention and instruction that ultimately allowed me to thrive throughout the rest of first grade. Since then, I have loved learning and have been inspired to become an elementary school teacher. I am very excited to be teaching in a second grade classroom this year. I worked for Granite School District in 2014 as an ESL (English as Second Language) aide, and then worked in first grade classrooms for two years (2014-2016) at a charter school. I enjoy working with children because I love to see them change and grow as they learn exponentially throughout the year! Other than my interest in teaching, I enjoy reading, writing, spending time with my husband and family, and playing outside. I have been married to my husband, Dane Mondeaux, for over two years now. Last year, we adopted a cat from the Humane Society of Utah named Siri, whom we love and adore. I played competitive soccer for ten years and I continue to love being active. I attended SLCC and the University of Utah, and I continue to learn about how to be an extraordinary teacher. To me, the best teacher is one that never stops learning, and I continuously search for ways to improve my instruction. Therefore, open communication is important to me, and I appreciate all forms of feedback. I am excited to see what this academic year has in store for us! Best, Mrs. Mondeaux |
